Great to track with this conversation.. late to the party as always. Looking forward to building on what we learned of each other's work in Whistler. I'll be posting the compendium of indicators we are working on and other items of interest as they are available. I can send these to you, Simon, as soon as they are in a shape I can share them. Let's keep in touch. Cheers Paul

Absolutely fine Simon. The intention in all I do is to make the material available to those who may find it useful. While our material is obviously strongly linked to our social, political and legal context, perhaps there are ways in which it can be adapted for other contexts - the indicator framework (I hesitate to call it a 'model') should have generic applicability.i
I think it was the late George Miller (sometime president of the American Psychological Association), who wrote an inspiring paper about the importance of research translation - once we are sure of its use and validity - the task is to give what we have learned away so as to create a better world. We should of course be aware of the point made at our meeting - that if we want to change the world we better know what we are doing....

reports and am writing this from yet another airport. I am also not that good at these network things. I am learning.... Hope this is not

The three examples I presented:

My presentation on day 1:

1: The children and HIV score card is work done subsequent to the
development of the book and be found at:
http://www.childrensrightscentre.co.za/site/awdep.asp?depnum=30812
2: The example on ECD score cards is work in progress and will be a
similar product to the one above when finalised.
3: The area-based child poverty mapping system is available on the hsrcpress website and is also published 2009 as:
Barnes, H., Noble, M., Wright, G. and Dawes, A. (2009) A Geographical Profile of Child Deprivation in South Africa. Child Indicators Research, 2, 121-199

Presentation on Day 2: The material I presented in
the Child Protection session is all directly from the book and the
accompanying down-loadable core indicator sets - can be found at:
http://www.hsrcpress.ac.za/product.php?productid=2200&cat=0&page=1&featured&freedownload=1&section=b

Hope this helps!

Best wishes and hope the kids enjoyed the stuff you took home.
