Thank you for sharing your story of engaging children in creating solutions. With each of us doing our part, perhaps one day we will wake up to this being the norm.

this year, The ILO's International Programme on The elimination of child labour, celebrated the World Day against child labour on the 12th of June. I was honored with a chance to participate in the organization. The theme for this year was give girls a chance and end Child labour. we should recognise that the girl child has been neglected for such a long time in all aspects of life and this puts her in a state of vulnerability to all sorts of abuse. This year's celebration most importantly however encouraged child participation-straight from the inception of the idea up to the implementation. We had a child-Master of ceremony, a children concert and a press conference where journalists were given chance to interview the children and the children could raise their grievances to the panel that included a minister of labour. I believe that one way of helping children fight for their rights is by creating for them a platform in which they can freely express express their ideas. every body should realise that children have potential to change their social stuations. Let us help them to cry out because they understand better what it is that hurts them and how best it can get solved. Check out the www.12to12.org
