Child Rights in Practice

Those of us working on the Child Protection Partnership at IICRD are currently brainstorming ways to celebrate and advocate for the safer use of technology for the upcoming Safe Internet Day on February 10, 2010. This discussion serves a two-fold purpose in that we hope to motivate others to focus on the importance of the message of safe use of technology and we would like to include others in our brainstorming process of how to get the message out to make the most of the day.
As you may be aware, the internet now serves the needs of pedophiles through easily procured pornographic images, access to children and youth through chatrooms and the ability to access children who were previously unobtainable due to proximity. CPP is working to find ways to keep children safe from online predators and International Safe Internet Day will be an important milestone as recognition is being given to the dangers that exist for children who use the internet.
Please help us brainstorm ways to mark the day and consider celebrating the day in your city or within your organization.
Thanks and we look forward to hearing your suggestions and how you plan to mark the day!!
